The IF-15 model is a high performance model developed for the WCT surfer Italo Ferreira.
Shaped with a well-balanced outline that foils into a fuller wider nose creating excellent stability upon returning from extreme maneuvers. We keep a sharp edge around the curve of the tail, which allows maximum control through out any type of maneuver. This boards bottom come standard with a slight single concave. Medium rocker. Ridden best with a squash tail but also works very well with a round tail or swallow tail to accommodate waves from anywhere in the world. We can put together this board in many different sizes to accommodate any customer. The board is much more progressive with actually more volume than your normal idea of what a WCT performance shape would be. Italo is always coming out of his maneuvers with high speed through landings while rotating out because he does not waste time sinking in the middle of his landings so he is always keeping the speed and still has all the control he could possibly want. These newer performance style boards that the guys are starting to ride translate into a very user friendly board for the standard user where it used to be the other way around. The Italo model has the right amount of volume to get you into those 2-3 extra waves each session that we always seem to miss without sacrificing the performance.

Born and raised in Hawaii, He was taught to surf by his father at the age of 10 in Waikiki on a 7’0 round-tailed Barry Kanaiaupuni mini-gun. At the age of 14, he’d shaped his first board, a 5’8 round pin out of his family’s Pearl City home. Today with 40 years of experience and having shaped boards for over ten World Champions, Eric Arakawa is a designer dedicated to the innovation and advancement of performance surfboards. As a lifelong surfer, it is his hope to spread the stoke that surfing has brought him by producing boards that get you excited to surf, whether it is a shortboard, mini-simmons, or longboard. Used regularly by both local and touring pros, his boards have been ridden to victory in countless Triple Crowns as well as WCT and WQS events worldwide, including Longboard and Big Wave World Tours. He has also been honored by the surfing media for his achievements, including Surfing Magazine’s Shaper of the Year in 2003.
It all started with his passion for surfing and the chance to save money on new boards, but he soon discovered he could also make it a professional career. By 1977 he was shaping for Hawaiian Island Creations, and in the 80’s he started his own surfboard company, Island Classics. The company grew and became host to a world champion surf team, but Eric realized his role in Island Classics required him to head in a direction away from his roots: surfboard design and shaping.
In 1995 he agreed to shape for HIC, who in return purchased Island Classics and its licensees, thus freeing Eric to concentrate not only on shaping and surfing, but also to spend more quality time with his young family. Today Eric resides on the North Shore of Oahu with his wife Sue. Nearly all his children have now grown up, and he is still as passionate as ever about creating the perfect board.

"After the Silmaril, our next goal was to work on a squash tail design that performed in weak, small waves. In November of 2022, Alonso Correa asked us to start developing a performance short board design for him to compete with in small waves for the 2023 season on the QS. After 3 months of testing and design modifications, we dialed this one in and sent it home with Alonso. Straight out of the gates, this board started reaping heat wins in South and Central America. Similar in approach to the Silmaril, this one is just fine-tuned for waves that lack in power. It's deep single concave with a slightly straighter tail (exit curve) that maintains speed out of turns, and carries through fat sections. It's easy to ride, and although it is primarily designed for open face waves, it feels sparky when hitting the lip. The lively pop when weighting and unweighting make it a great board for boosting airs."

Lost Surfboards By Mayhem Driver 3.0 Squash Tail

Since the launch of the Driver2.0, in 2019, our team has consistently pushed us to continue evolving, always strive to have an edge, competing against the worlds best surfers. We are motivated by making strides to come out on top. It represents the methodical advancements and evolution of the Driver2.0, the point where it is no longer even the same model. Publicly leaked and unveiled (as a squash tail) in the 2022 StabInTheDark, with Jack Robinson, where we just missed a win, ending with a very close runner up. Further refinement and adaptation from the SITD board, though 2022, cemented this design as some thing special. Virtually every top tier surfer we work with was claiming this version as the best board in their quiver. Highlighted by Griffin Colapinto and his two WCT victories of the season, in Portugal and El Salvador. The DRIVER3.0 Rnd is essentially replicated directly from Griffins magic board, during that El Salvador event. The response and accolades from every gifted surfer in our team (from vets like Kolohe Andino, Yago Dora and Ian Crane to young guns like Eli Hanniman, Crosby Cola and Cole Housmand) has been so resoundingly positive, that we felt it was time to go public and offer this design officially, for late 2022 and beyond.
Simply stated, the DRIVER3.0 features slightly more tail rocker and a deeper double to single concave, through the rear half, than its predecessor, the Driver2.0. The deck line in the tail is scooped out, with lower, boxy rails, to follow the bottom curve and slice seamlessly into the water. More concave means more lift and more rail line rocker. More lift means more speed. More rail rocker, means more curve, for searing, tight radius turns. We narrowed the hip, between the feet, adding grip and stability to the outline. The round tail is fairly wide and forgiving under the rear foot, but the last few inches pull in enough to add confidence and hold in hard pushing, Pro level, pocket surfing.
To balance these design elements (added tail rocker, narrower hip, scooped out deck and hyper rail rocker) we have carried a bit more width in the forward outline and volume in the forward foil. This forward volume adds glide and a more responsive drive, off the front foot. The DRIVER3.0 runs thicker, along the stringer line (for paddle power and drive) but has a higher angle “Vee” deck, which removes volume and ends in a moderate, but round and forgiving, rail.
Overall, the dims and volumes are noticeably a bit more generous. Like everything else in this boards design evolution, it is a reaction to (and response from) our top tier athletes requests. Griffin is riding 5’11 x 28.50 liters. Yago 5’11 and 6’0 x 29.50 liters. Kolohe and Crosby are somewhere in between, riding similar lengths, but at 29.00 liters of volume.
The DRIVER3.0 Rnd is the status quo of high level, Pro-formance surfing, today. Developed with direction, testing and feedback from the many of the best surfers in the USA and around the world, it has been proven on the worlds biggest stage, yet is designed with enough foam and built in speed to be a viable tool in any adepts surfers quiver.
